In a construction market that was worth €30.5 billion in 2008, with estimates that this will drop to approximately €20 billion this year, it is encouraging to see an Irish company achieving ambitious turnover figures.  KCC Architectural has just announced it is on target for a projected turnover of €20 million in 2009. As a leading supplier of the widest range of integrated architectural products and services, KCC Architectural demonstrates that by constantly adapting and diversifying, success can be achieved, even in the most difficult markets.

The road to success for KCC Architectural has included the successful integration of three high profile companies over the past five years namely, KCC Hardware & Access Control, Skelly’s Opening Solutions and Mullingar Metal Fabrication. 2009 also saw the introduction of a new internal structure in KCC Architectural, with four distinct product divisions (hardware and access control, stainless steel fabrications, facades patricians and doors, and automatic doors).

A critical success factor for KCC Architectural has been its ability to expand and diversify its product offering. One such recent business initiative includes the introduction of a repair and maintenance service, in which KCC Architectural, having designed, manufactured and installed the product, will now provide a full maintenance service for its lifetime. KCC Architectural’s extremely high level of expertise within the commercial and industrial access control and door industry, also contributing to the decision to expand the Repair & Maintenance business offering.

Another such business initiative is the forming of a partnership with German company Geze, one of the leading manufacturers of innovative door and window technology in the world. This initiative allows KCC Architectural to build automatic operators in Ireland, giving clients better value for money, shorter lead-times, guaranteed quality and 24 hour service.
Chris Kilpatrick, CEO, KCC Architectural comments: “Without a doubt 2009 has been a difficult year in business; we’ve had to make some very tough decisions to ensure we remain competitive in the marketplace. However, by focusing on where we can continue to add value to our customer base, and by diversifying into a number of new areas, we are in a strong position as 2009 draws to a close”.

Some of the high profile projects that KCC Architectural has been involved in include Microsoft Dublin, National Conference Centre, The Shelbourne Hotel, Cork University Hospital, the Point Village and the O2 Arena.  It excels in computer-aided architectural hardware, conducts extensive site surveys and visits, and has an in-house CAD department with highly experienced engineers.  It employs over 150 people across 5 offices located in Dublin, Belfast, Cork, Galway and Mullingar.

In 2009, KCC also invested heavily in a new website and on-line catalogue. The website provides an extensive product range, along with dimensions and specifications - a great asset for project managers trying to bring projects in on time and most importantly, within budget.
