KCC were commissioned to supply and install automatic sliding doors fitted to an inclined section on the façade of the prestigious new Terminal 2 building at Dublin Airport.
The new terminal, completed in 2010, was the centrepiece of a five-year investment programme to expand, improve and upgrade Dublin Airport. During three years of construction, more than 10,400 men and women were involved in the €600 million investment project. The overall T2 construction project includes a new terminal building, a new boarding gate pier, a new combined heat and power facility, 19 new aircraft parking stands, and an upgraded airport road network. The new Terminal itself is now home to Aer Lingus, American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Etihad Airways, as well as US Airways and houses a new US preclearance facility, as well as almost 40 new shops and food and beverage outlets.
With its steel and glass facade -of which KCC’s automatic sliding doors are an integral part-, the new terminal makes use of natural light to create a modern and comfortable space for both departing and arriving passengers.
At KCC Architectural we are proud to have played our role in this key infrastructural investment in Ireland’s future!
A reference from the company involved in the cladding of the building (Martifer Group):
“KCC engaged with us and the project architects to complete the design intent for the automatic doors for this challenging location. The automatic doors were installed within the agreed programme, commissioned and handed over successfully.”
